This somewhat sloppy art journal entry was created with black gesso, alphabet rubber stamps, and white pigment ink.
I often mix different sets of alphabet stamps to get a more interesting effect.
This quote comes from a Feng Shui book, The Feng Shui of Abundance by Suzan Hilton:
Many people hold on to things and also hold their emotions in check. Holding on is a particular vibration that shuts down the flow of energy.
When I was decluttering, preparing to leave a 20-year marriage and move over 1000 miles away, I had to let go of many possessions that I'd treasured...and plenty that were just clutter. To keep moving forward, I had to remind myself steadily that the process was vital. Quotations like this helped me a lot.
But, even with what I thought was ruthless weeding-out, I moved many things that I looked at a year later and wondered why I thought they were valuable.
By the time I left that marriage, both my perspective and my self-image were almost entirely unrealistic.
If you've never used gesso in colors such as black, I highly recommend it. If you've never
used gesso, learn more about this product in my article,
Gesso - what it is, how to use it.
